The wayfarer's handbook
Player Guide & Support
Everything needed to enter Asterhaven, understand the desktop client and get help when the waystone misbehaves.
Launch desktop clientGetting started
- Open the desktop client in a current browser.
- Create a character name and password. Asterhaven does not collect an email address, so keep that password somewhere safe—it cannot be recovered.
- Choose your class and follow the tutorial objectives shown beneath the room name.
- Complete the training route, then step through the waystone into the shared world.
Movement & actions
Move freely around the visible room with WASD or the arrow keys. Walk to a room edge or click an illuminated exit to travel between rooms.
The client is visual-first. Staff can enter traditional administrative commands by starting a message with a backslash.
Combat & abilities
Select a hostile creature, then attack or choose an ability. Position and range matter: bows attack at distance, Alchemists throw explosive mixtures, and melee fighters must close the gap.
- Ability icons darken and display their remaining cooldown before they can be used again.
- Health, psi and stamina appear in the top display and the desktop character rail.
- If you die, your spirit returns to the waystone. Your equipment, inventory, gold and experience remain safe.
- Use the stand, flee or dismount action when the situation calls for it.
Equipment & loot
World drops can carry randomized combat bonuses, resources and attributes. Upgrade candidates glow in the inventory. Compare the complete card before equipping—one item may trade damage for survivability or class resources.
- Open caches and chests with their visible interaction buttons.
- Rare and powerful discoveries may be announced in the world feed.
- Carry capacity is limited, so sell, bank or discard things you no longer need.
- Equipment appearance, including weapons, armor and cloaks, can be reflected on your adventurer.
Quests & live events
The active objective appears beneath the room title and in the desktop quest panel. When an objective involves returning an item, enter the recipient's room and use the return button.
Live events include roaming hunts, fast-moving creatures, enemy waves, rare world chests and oversized world bosses. The scrolling world feed announces major loot, deaths, quest completions and realm activity; click its history control to review earlier entries.
Housing, mounts & companions
Deeds progress from cabin to cottage to house. Owners can choose a biome backdrop, decorate with furniture and wall pieces, and use limited home recall charges. Placed objects are solid only where their footing belongs, so your character can naturally pass behind tall scenery.
Mounts and minipets are earned or acquired in the world—they are not granted automatically to every new adventurer.

Chat & community
The desktop chat dock sends gossip to everyone online. The Social menu exposes other chat tools, and the history buttons open scrollable world and conversation logs. Be decent to the people behind the sprites; abuse can be reported from the game.
